A project to share information

On 1 February 2013 a new project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) was launched at Aberystwyth University. It follows on from the successful AHRC funded Seals in Medieval Wales1200-1550 (SiMeW) research project that ran during 2009-12. The new funding is for developing and providing outreach work in the wider community to enable the research project to share its knowledge with all who are interested. Based in the Department of History & Welsh History at Aberystwyth this new project is led by Professor Phillipp Schofield, with colleagues Dr Elizabeth New and Dr John McEwan, and will operate until January 2014.

The activities will include:

  • providing ‘best practice’ guidance for describing / documenting / recording seals
  • delivering outreach and public engagement activities

What can this project offer?

The team is particularly keen to work with colleagues in the heritage sector, schools and centers for lifelong-learning, and other parties to deliver a flexible programme of talks and / or workshops tailored to the interests of different audiences, whether professionals, interested individuals or community learners.
